Position Overview
Kwaan Bear IT Solutions is seeking a Public Engagement Associate to support museum exhibits, tours, and public programs through historical research, exhibit development, and audience engagement. Working under the direction of the Head of Curatorial and Historian, the Public Engagement Associate will contribute subject-matter expertise, project coordination, and content development to enhance the museum experience for a wide range of audiences. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in public history, museum studies, or a related field, and a passion for creating meaningful educational and public-facing experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct original historical research in support of museum exhibits, tours, and public programs.
- Serve as project manager for curatorial priorities and assigned tasks.
- Write and draft exhibit text, object labels, and related interpretive materials.
- Conduct primary-source text and image research for exhibits.
- Assist in the development of exhibit-based educational materials.
- Design and lead museum exhibit tours for diverse audiences.
- Research topics for panel discussions and other public programs.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Public History, Museum Studies, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
- Experience working with Microsoft and Google platforms.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage deadlines effectively.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with all levels of management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Public History, Museum Studies, or a related field.
- Experience working with secondary and college students.
- Experience organizing events or programs for the general public.
